WELCOME TO REPA ONLINE

Thursday, June 19th

Quick reminder about the REPA Sawgrass Convention (and especially those planning to play in the Golf Tournament)…..

We still have some time (six weeks or so) to go before the cut-off date (3:00 PM on Friday, August 1, 2008) but we urge all planning to attend to go ahead and make room reservations now at the Sawgrass (be sure and tell them that you are attending the REPA Convention)… And sign up with REPA now too!

As some learned to their sorrow at Savannah last year the hotels do not give the REPA rate (then and now) past the cut-off date… And in Savannah some had to stay at another hotel as the Hyatt sold out prior to our convention! And please understand that we contracted for a certain number of rooms and when that number is reached (even if BEFORE the cut-off date) then the REPA rate is no longer available, even if the Sawgrass still has rooms…

Bottom line is that you CAN cancel your reservation with the Sawgrass, no later than 48 hours before arrival… And you CAN cancel your REPA reservation (with us) prior to the start of the convention… So there is no penalty or reason not to for going ahead and calling the Sawgrass (toll-free at 1-800-457-4653) and sending in your Registration Form, with check, to REPA…

The form and its instructions are available in the summer issue of REPArtee and also on the Registration Page of this website... The address and all the good information are on the form and its instructions….

One more time! You must call the Sawgrass to make your room reservations and you must fill out the REPA Convention Registration form and mail it to Jerry Frost… Two separate things to do! Then just show up and have a great time!!!! And by the way, the REPA rate is available two days before and after the convention (if you call in plenty of time!)…

Now about the Golf Tournament….

Our Golf Co-chairmen, Bill Schulz and Curt Whaley, report that the sign-up for both the Championship Flight and Scramble is going very slow!!!! If you plan to play in either then please fill out that Golf Form (again in the magazine or online here on the Registration page) and mail it, with your check, to those boys!!!! Like most (all) REPA workers we are volunteers and really don’t like the stress of worrying about attendance for the convention and its functions… Not to mention the possible monetary loss to REPA if the members don’t attend or participate in the various tournaments…

So, if you plan to attend (and play in the Golf and Tennis Tournaments) then go ahead and sign up now!

We appreciate it!!!!

Also, Treasurer Jerry Frost asked us to report that as of today (June 19th) we have 149 members who have not paid their 2008 Dues... This is broken down as 124 Regular Members ($40.00), 24 Affiliate Members ($35.00) and one Subscriber (not really a member but this person has not paid the $#25.00 to receive our magazine each year)....

These 148 members will be placed into Bad Standing on July 1st and if not paid by the end of the year they will be removed from the database... So, to avoid this we urge each person who is not sure that they have paid to contact us... See the Roster and Magazines as well as the Contact Info page on this website for methods to get in touch...

Also, as of today Jerry reports that we have a total membership of 1349... This includes 263 widows who do not pay dues, however many do make contributions to the Kitty...

We can report that the summer issue of REPArtee was mailed right on time and perhaps many who had paid for First Class got theirs today... If not they should arrive before the weekend. Of course the rest of us who have Standard Mailing will have to wait till next week or longer to receive our copy... Sometimes it takes as much as 3 weeks for the Post Office to deliver Standard mailed items... But REPA saves about $4,000.00 per issue by using Standard Mail instead of First Class...

Great News!

For those with winter or summer homes and especially for your Editor!

Our Treasurer and Keeper of the Database, Jerry Frost, has been working on a program that will enable him to keep TWO (2) Address of Record for those needing same… He reports that it is now up and running. So effective immediately those with winter or summer homes (or any others who might have two addresses and who would benefit from this new program) should contact Jerry (or your editor) and give us the below information…

(1)Your primary Address of Record including telephone number and E-mail address if desired…

(2) Also your secondary Address of Record including telephone number if one there. This would be the summer or winter home for most folks…

(3) Now this is very important so make sure you have it down pat! We need to know the Date you will be going to and returning from your secondary Address of Record.

Jerry says that when the above is entered into the Database he will have the ability each time a publication mailing list is generated, twice a year on odd years and three times a year on even years (when we also mail the new roster) to have either your primary or secondary address printed on your publication.

Now also remember, you have the ability to change any address or date any time you wish. Just contact either Jerry or myself with those changes. We will enter the information and that will become your NEW primary and secondary Address of Record (along with the dates you go from one to the other) and remain so until you change it with us again… You can make the changes by telephone, US Mail (our addresses are in the REPA Roster and REPArtee) or E-mail… As before we do not mind one bit how many times you make the changes, as long as you do it!!

As for mailing dates, we try each year to mail the summer REPArtee the first part of May and the winter issue the tail end of December (so the Dues Envelope will arrive in time for mailing by the Due Date of January 1st each year)... Sometimes though we are unable to get the winter issue out until the very first part of January.

The REPA Roster is always scheduled to be mailed in early or mid March (even years)…

If this new program works out (and we need your help to make it work!) then perhaps the long list of Temporarily Away notices will cease arriving in my mailbox…

And the need for First Class mailing will disappear too. Truthfully though, due to the Post Office not following their own rules, we must report that First Class mailings have been a big disappointment as regards Temporarily Away forwarding…

Jerry Frost has worked hard on this important new program so we do owe him a very big Thank You!

Jerry Frost (our Treasurer) asks that I remind those who have not paid their 2008 Dues to please do so... The amount is $40 for Regular Members, $35 for Affiliates and $25 for Subscibers. As you know widows are not required to pay dues but many make an annual contribution to the Kitty to cover the cost of their magazines and so on...

Jerry reports as of today we have unpaid:

132 Regular Members, 25 Affiliates and 1 Subscriber...

If the 2008 Dues are not paid by July 1st then the member goes into Bad Standing and if not paid by December 31st then the member will be removed from the database. This per the REPA Bylaws...

REPA President Ross McCort asked that the following information be placed on the REPA Website...

The REPA BOD, in accordance with the Bylaws, will present the following Slate of Officers for 2009 to the Membership for consideration and election at the Sawgrass Convention Business Meeting on September 3rd.

Please note that due to the resignation of VP/President Elect Duane Gordon last Friday, at the BOD Meeting, it was neccessary to select another as President for the proposed Slate, as Duane would not be moving up to that position. The Board felt that, under the circumstances, the person selected should be a Past President.
