REPA
Dues:
REPA
Treasurer Jerry Frost reports that as of July 1st we have
210 REPA folks in Bad Standing for non-payment of their 2009
Dues. The breakdown is 179 Regular Members, 30 Affiliates
and 1 Subscriber.
In
a few days Jerry will be sending a Dues Reminder, by First
Class postage, to all 210 who are in Arrears. If you are unsure
as to your Dues status then you might want to check with Jerry
quickly (to save him some work and REPA some postage!)… His
contact information is in the recent REPA Roster
(2008/09) and all recent issues of REPArtee… It is
also on the Contact Info page of this Website.
Those
who have not paid their current year Dues are placed in Bad
Standing on July 1st of that year and are removed from the
REPA Database on January 1st of the following year.
REPA
Convention Reservations:
We
spoke to the Francis Marion Hotel this morning (the site of
our 2009 REPA Convention in Charleston, SC) and they confirmed
that while we are considerably over our contracted Room Block
the REPA Rate is still being honored ($111.38 all-inclusive)…
They did say that rooms on Wednesday, September 9th (the last
night of our convention) are very tight now and it is possible
that accommodations will not be available the night of the
Banquet…. Sooooooooo… If planning to attend we strongly suggest
you call the Francis Marion today at 1-877-756-2121 (toll-free)
and make your reservations.
Remember,
making your room reservations with the Francis Marion is only
half the job! You still need to send in your check ($180 per
person) with the Registration Form to Jerry Frost… That form
(and its Instructions) is available on the REPA Website Registration
page as well as in the summer issue of REPArtee.
And
if you plan to play in the REPA Convention Golf Tournament
(Scramble Format) then please let Co-chairs Bill Schulz and
Curt Whaley know by sending in the Golf Sign-up Form, with
check. The form
is also available on the Registration page of the website,
as well as on page 27 of the summer REPArtee.
As
mentioned above, we are considerably over our planned Room
Block (and thus Attendees) so it promises to be a very successful
Convention… We hope you will be one of those enjoying what
Charleston has to offer….
See
you in a couple of months!
Thursday,
May 28th
Folks….
Carrie
and I, along with Bill and Su Reeves, just returned from our
Pre-Convention Meeting with Stephen Parker, our POC at the
Francis Marion… It was very productive and about all the final
items were settled…
While
there we got an updated Rooming List and it showed only 36
room-nights remaining in our Block!!!! Of course I asked them
if they would continue to accept reservations at the REPA
rate once we hit 365 room-nights. The answer was “Yes, depending
on other bookings….. (for the time we are there)”… Clearly
we have no GTE that they will…. So if you, or someone you
know, want to come and have not yet made your/their reservations
then you might want to call right now (1-877-756-2121)!
We
also met with Charleston resident Keith Riddle, the Guest
Speaker for the Ladies Luncheon… We came away from that meeting
knowing that the ladies will enjoy hearing what he has to
say!
The
Banquet Presentation, Eres Tu, is finished for all
practical purposes… Only some last minute final tuning now!
We met with the A/V representative and are happy with the
arrangements made for the showing… As in Chattanooga we will
have two 10 x 10 ft screens with high-lumen projectors… It
will be connected to the hotel’s built-in Surround Sound System
(as was done in Chattanooga) so we feel it will be properly
presented…..
All
in all everything is right on track for our September 7th
Convention!

Tuesday,
May 5th
Folks…
We
are pleased to report that the summer 2009 issue of REPArtee
was mailed yesterday, Monday, May 4th…
Those
122 members who paid the $10.00 for First Class delivery
may get their magazines today, or if not, then in the next
few days…
The
remaining approximate 1200 sent by Standard Mail will
trickle out as the Post Office sees fit! Seriously, most will
be delivered in 10 days or less…
Those
members who did not have their current address on file with
REPA will have to wait until the Post Office notifies me that
your magazine was trashed and I get over my little Hissy Fit
about the loss, after which I will try to find out where you
are… Hopefully I will be able to locate you and if so will
send a replacement magazine!
This
magazine has much on the upcoming REPA Convention in Charleston,
starting on September 7th. We have the 16 pages of color starting
on page 17 (the Invitation Page). Since we wanted to maximize
the color to best advantage we placed the Registration Form,
its Instructions and Directions to the Francis Marion Hotel
in various places in the non-color section of the magazine,
as they have no color on them…
Again
we wish to point out that the reservations with the Francis
Marion are running considerably ahead of what we expected
at this time… We are well over half way towards attaining
the required room-nights and have well over half of our block
of rooms reserved. Therefore we continue to urge all who plan
to attend the convention to go ahead and call the Francis
Marion Hotel (1-877-756-2121) now and make your reservations…
It is possible that the hotel rooms will all be taken way
before the Cut-off date of August 6th…
Anyhow
there is a lot more about the convention in the summer REPArtee…
We hope you enjoy reading it!

will be included in the summer issue of REPArtee,
still set for mailing the first week in May... Also we invite

Friday,
January 9th
The
REPA BOD had the required Meeting yesterday, Thursday, January
8th. Some items of interest were that the office of Secretary
and incoming Director henceforth shall be combined. This means
that REPA now has six (6) Directors. Not only will this be
a more economical Board (in these tough times) but it will
continue to streamline our operation. Our new Director, "Bud"
Robbins immediately commenced taking the minutes as soon as
the meeting started, as he saw what was about to happen!
Also
the Nominating Committee submitted their Slate of Officers
for 2010 and it was adopted by the BOD. Bob Drawdy has agreed
to serve and if elected will be our new Director and Secretary
in 2010.
Captain
Jim Talton was unanimously selected to be inducted into the
REPA Hall of Fame. This will occur at the Banquet in Charleston
on September 8th. His daughters, Su Reeves and Frankie Talton
have been invited to accept this award on Jim's behalf
Saturday,
January 3rd
The
winter 2009 issue of REPArtee was mailed about three
weeks ago and probably most have received their copy by now...
However due to the holidays we are aware that some sent by
Standard Mail were not delivered in a timely manner.... If
you have not received yours perhaps it will arrive next week!
In
this magazine you will find the 2009 Dues Envelope... Please
take the time to write your check and get it in the mail to
Jerry Frost, our Treasurer... As you know the Dues should
be paid on the first day of January each year... They are
$40 for Regular Members and $35 for Affilates... Widows do
not pay Dues but many do make a contribution to the Kitty
to help offset the cost of printing and postage for the publications!
Friday,
November 14th
Please
go to REPA News (button just to the left on this page) for
an update on the REPA motion concerning an offer to discuss
a merger with the Silver Falcons. Also there you will see
short blurb on the upcoming REPA Board of Directors Meeting...
Remember,
REPA Dues are due on January 1st of each year so please use
the enclosed envelope (in the magazine) to mail yours in on
or before January 1, 2009...
Friday,
October 24th
REPA
Treasurer Jerry Frost advises that most of those in Bad Standing
have paid their 2008 dues however 24 Regular Members and 7
Affiliate Members are still in danger of being removed from
the Database... Per the Bylaws this will happen on January
1st... We do not want to lose any members so if you are in
doubt as to your status regarding dues payment then please
contact either Jerry or Jim Holder.
See
the Roster and Magazines as well as the Contact Info
page on this website for methods to get in touch with us...

Great News!
For
those with winter or summer homes and especially for your
Editor!
Our
Treasurer and Keeper of the Database, Jerry Frost, has been
working on a program that will enable him to keep TWO (2)
Address of Record for those needing same… He reports
that it is now up and running. So effective immediately those
with winter or summer homes (or any others who might have
two addresses and who would benefit from this new program)
should contact Jerry (or your editor) and give us the below
information…
(1)Your
primary Address of Record including telephone number and E-mail
address if desired…
(2)
Also your secondary Address of Record including telephone
number if one there. This would be the summer or winter home
for most folks…
(3) Now this is very important so make sure you have it down
pat! We need to know the Date you will be going to and returning
from your secondary Address of record.
Jerry
says that when the above is entered into the Database he will
have the ability each time a publication mailing list is generated,
twice a year on odd years and three times a year on even years
(when we also mail the new roster) to have either your primary
or secondary address printed on your publication. Now also
remember, you have the ability to change any address or date
any time you wish. Just contact either Jerry or myself with
those changes. We will enter the information and that will
become your NEW primary and secondary Address of Record (along
with the dates you go from one to the other) and remain so
until you change it with us again… You can make the changes
by telephone, US Mail (our addresses are in the REPA Roster
and REPArtee) or E-mail… As before we do not mind
one bit how many times you make the changes, as long as you
do it!!
As
for mailing dates, we try each year to mail the summer REPArtee
the first part of May and the winter issue the tail end of
December (so the Dues Envelope will arrive in time for mailing
by the Due Date of January 1st each year)... Sometimes though
we are unable to get the winter issue out
until the very first part of January.
The
REPA Roster is always scheduled to be mailed in early
or mid
March (even years)…

for information on a variety of subjects.
Check out the new "Mailbag" page.
